FAMILY HISTORY ARCHIVES
Alurralde  -   Moersig   -   De Austria

The Family History Archives is a digital space created to help preserve and share the history and heritage of the Alurralde, Moersig, and De Austria family lines across generations. This site includes the link to Family History: Reflections, Genealogy, and Compendium of Information, an exceptional resource bringing together decades of research conducted across multiple countries and tracing more than sixteen generations of family history through archival materials, oral histories, genealogical studies, historical documents, historic photographs, and personal reflections. It is presented here to help safeguard and preserve this history, heritage, and family legacy for present and future generations, just as generations before us worked to preserve them in remarkable and enduring detail.

Behind this collection of research, records, and historical materials lies something much more personal: a lifelong connection to family history and an enduring desire to understand, preserve, and share the stories that shaped our family across generations. This work did not begin as a formal historical project, but rather as the continuation of a tradition carried forward by earlier generations — a tradition of preserving family stories, photographs, documents, memories, and genealogical research so they could continue to be remembered, shared, and carried forward across generations.

A Lifelong Interest in Family History

My family history has always lived within me. From a young age, I was captivated by the stories shared by my parents, aunts, grandmother, and relatives about our ancestors. Each conversation added another piece to the larger puzzle of our family’s past and inspired a lifelong interest in understanding where we came from, who came before us, and how their lives shaped our own.

Over time, this personal interest grew into a deeper commitment to preserving and documenting our family history. I began working with materials carefully preserved by earlier generations — family letters, photographs, records, oral histories, and genealogical research passed down through relatives who understood the importance of safeguarding these stories.

Research Across Generations and Continents

As technology evolved and online research tools became more accessible, new possibilities emerged for genealogical research. Digital archives, church records, immigration documents, historical databases, and genealogy libraries opened doors that previous generations could not easily access. What once required years of correspondence and travel could now be complemented through online discovery, while still relying on in-person archival work and traditional historical research.

Over the years, this journey led me to collaborate with relatives, family friends, historians, archivists, and professional genealogists who conducted research in Argentina, Spain, the Basque Country, Germany, and other locations connected to our family’s history. Together, we gathered documents, accessed archives, and worked to preserve information that might otherwise have disappeared with time, helping ensure these stories and records could continue to be shared with future generations.

Preserving and Sharing Our Story

This website, together with the accompanying family history book, represents the continuation of that lifelong journey. It is not intended as a definitive historical work, but rather as a collection of family memories, research, photographs, oral histories, documents, and reflections gathered over many years. Most importantly, this work is offered with gratitude and respect — for those who came before us, for the generations living today, and for those who will continue carrying these stories into the future.

“Ciegamente reclama duración el alma arbitraria
cuando la tiene asegurada en vidas ajenas,
cuando tú mismo eres el espejo, la réplica (y la evolución)
de quienes no alcanzaron tu tiempo,
y otros serán (y son) tu inmortalidad en la tierra.”
